So, there are some pretty cool moderators who work 'behind the scenes', keeping this entire Internet Archive afloat and up and running...not just the Grateful dead Forum. We are a very small part of what goes on here.

But there's a very cool guy named Tyler, and it looks like to me, that he was able to help Ms. dancinbears with a 'prob2lem'. In fact he really helped us all.

I just wanted to say a very GRATEFUL THANK YOU Tyler.

and smiles faces to you. =)
you are very much appreciated for everything you do here!

I've seen too many of you rise to his bait, so you have no one to blame but yourselves for encouraging him. As long as no "rules" are broken, what's the harm? Again---ignore, ignore, ignore. Some of us have written in his style as well, whether to piss him off or poke fun, and this may have just egged him on. I myself am guilty, but like a train wreck, it's hard not to read some of the posts. Eccentricity is something that keeps the world greased. I said in a previous thread that maybe we're looking @ a mentally ill schizo speaking to the voice(s) in his/her head. Certainly a possibilty. I've been enjoying like I do a "good" trainwreck all of the soap opera vibe that's been happening here---and MOST of it is due to EVERYONE OTHER poster, more than the object of our/your frustration. Unless what is being done is tying up the posts to the point of others NOT being able to post, then I don't see an issue, regardless of how many handles this person posts under. I've yet to see where anyone was attacked so meanly that it requires this level of effort on our part to "dicuss the smi2lesbellski2tallpailofH2O problem". JUST SKIP OVER THE FUCKIN" POSTS!!!!!

Now, in a minor defense of this person(s), there have been many posts made by him that are giving the exact same info we provide when recommending shows, so it's not all nonsense & giberish. Some of his posts have given us shows & some insights into the shows. Deadheads are a varying bunch. We're janitors, hamburger heater-uppers @ McD's, gas station attendents, welfare cases, drug dealers, murderers & rapists, thieves, mentally ill lawyers, lawyers, CEO's, and dare I say it, politicians. Acceptance is what most "deadhead's" voice loudly as what made the scene what it was, and became. Diversity, a "liberal" idea that our scene embraced is what we see here every day. If you do not want to egg him on, don't read the threads or respond. I try & read EVERYONE"S threads & responses, but of course I can't read ALL of them, so I di miss some points. I enjoy this very ecclectic group we have here. Insights into the GD & LIFE have been posted by all, and I don't think anyone should be excluded from being able to post---under the forums guidelines of course---whatever we want. Telephonetoughguy has been blasted for his jihad threads/posts, but isn't the GD a WORLD band? His jihadi rants are a world issue. Should this forum be ONLY for posts relating to the GD? Shows set lists, what shirt was Jerry wearing, did Bobby spit in everyones eyes in the front row---are these the only topics that should/can be discussed? Absolutely not. This is for the free exchange of ideas--no matter how ridiculous the idea is--by people who share the commonality of listening to the greatest "jam band" (whatever that really means) in the last 40 years.
But we ALL are CHOOSING to make this an issue, so if anyones posts are pissing you off, you have the CHOICE to respond in kind, ignore the post, or accept that someone else wants to push buttons, buttons we make available to them by responding the way we do, which only validates & justifies their existence.

Now, maybe I'm thinking too much of myself, but I think at least some of my posts have warranted MUCH MORE in the way of responses than they actually received, and I think my posts make considerably more sense than his. For some reason I get the impression that I'm not part of the club, as many of you post & reply to maybe a dozen other posters exclusively. I admit that I do not know ANY of you beyond the posts shown here, and since I do not join in on GROK's---not because I don't want to, but "life" get's in the way of certain things sometimes, I don't take the opportunity to get to know you. I've never even seen "chatzy" or e-mailed any of you personally, but most of you seem like intelligent, caring individuals who should be able to Rise Above (Black Flag) the BS.

So, maybe my real point is if he/she is causing things to not work on this forum, spreading viruses, spreading venom, or breaking "da rules", then there should be steps taken to remove the person. Other than that, live & let live---maybe the BEST golden rule. I hope some of this made sense, and maybe we can all get past this issue that has entirely too much attention paid to it.

LOVE to everyone---SDH, I hope your wife's surgery went well & all the best for a speedy recovery.

Getting back to the GD, here's my first show. It seems that many of you were going to shows MANY years before I did, and I love the stories from "the good ol' days".

2 things....

1. we all tried to ingnore(with some success), but the volume of posts was too prolific to ignore.

2. Telephone Toughguy's rants are mostly within the 'other' forums here on LMA. Occasionally he'd drop a bomb on GD forum, but that was because he knows we are there and that we care.

TT's posts are informative and usually well thought out and on the money. How do you define the word "rant"? A viewpoint you disagree with?
I may agree on the GDForum point you made, but drop a bomb? haha! -as long as it's on the bad guys. Oh sorry, am i ranting?

Hey, I did not say ranting. Aren't we all enraged when it comes to the material TT points us to.

I say 'bombs' because the material TT is monitoring is so awful, it jerks a drifting head right back in to reality.

I, like you, am proud of TT's recent work.

P.S. - OK, I did say ranting, but only because I was quoting the post above...

Thanks guys... now imagine a whistling sound that gets louder and drops in pitch over time... it's... my newest rant!

Here is the latest addition to moving pictures section, just one page worth... 80-90% is bootleg anime, unplayable or un-executable bootleg software and movies, jihadi propaganda, etc. I singled it all out in 15 minutes just to put it in perspective as far as stopping it is concerned.

Most of it violates international copyright law, almost of all of it has no description at all and ALL of it erodes at the integrity of the database of legitimate art and history on this site.

It's no longer a crusade against Jihad, it's now a backlash against attacks on the intelligence of the online community as a whole. The live dead section is no longer accepting uploads so you might never see this crap if you hang there only. When we run out of server space for LMA and Etree, I am sure someone will address it. Until then, I will never surrender...

The only reason I bother folks on here is because my emails and forum posts in the appropriate channels have been completely ignored. I was even warned about using inapropriate language when reviewing a jihadi snuff films!

Anyway... to all you who know the real deal, peace. I have to go into text and audio and weed out the parasitic garbage and expose it for what it is.

Hello,

I completely agree with your critics on the posted content. I transfer old 16mm movies and if my customers agree, I put them on archive.org. When I look at the newly added movies, for example, I see jihad and hate propaganda and not much others like me who are willing to post the movies before the got lost in the big black deep of a trashcan. So I know it is probably impossible to review all those movies posted on archive.org but maybe there can be a statement that archive.org is not fot middle-east content exept when it is in English? or am I going too far? I mean, let's discuss it before some government decides to close archive.org and that is the last thing we want. I also know that there is an european archive (http://www.europarchive.org) but there is not much content yet on it. But it will be soon that I am not posting on archive.org anymore because my content is associated with jihad and hate because my digitized transferred 16mm stuff is between those files. And that is something to concern and certainly something I don't want.
Anyway, I hope for a discussion.

regards,

Cor Draijer

Hey thanks to all who don't hate me! It's a shame that we would lose a contributor of valuable content to this so I hope you change your mind about adding more 16mm films. I think countering their message with an alternative is the best defense and offense in this struggle for opinon. Some folks think I am a neocon bushwacker and all gungho imperiliasm, but I am not. I am an atheist against oppressive governement and religions and oppose censorship and government regulation of human behvior of any kind that thinks if a threat to my country
(and my freedoms) exists, it should be stomped out and pissed on. I will not vote for GW ever again, I promise. There are also some who trivialize the "terror threat" and think jihad is not their problem, hate to break the news but when my old stomping grounds are getting hit by airliners (I saw them hit) I tend to take it seriously. On a lighter note of non dead related jihad topical stuff, I found myself mentioned on a few jihad sites! One of the translations goes something like this:

"Entire books exist but the problem appears isolated and that the books of any researcher search in some way.
ip adresses. As for you, brother Osama tried to change the name of a new user to enter the location of the archives and perhaps formerly of the ip adresses.
Telephone Toughguy And spare received significant that a member of the Telephone Toughguy Archive is the reason for this suffering."

Hilarious.

Some say I am wasting my time battling these hating knuckleheads online but if I am only annoying one person in his attempt to preach hatred and death, it's all worth it.

Oh by the way there are still dozens of bootleg movies and music up, I just don't have time to keep posting about it anymore. Stay tuned.

Back to the deadzone...

I would only offer the following for consideration: in a conversation in the parking lot, you and four others are engaged in it, but a sixth walks up and every tenth word spoken among the group is his/her saying "yuck, yuck, yuck." This would get tiring fast; some would joke back, some would move on, some ignore it...since this forum is the only place for the conversation, it is more difficult.

Politeness and social grace still count for something.

He may not be gone for good if Bellski2 is really him. But this is just a heads up to him then.... he needs to play nicely.

And GOP if you really would like to know what he/she/it has done... well dancinbears is really a sweetheart... truly she is. but when my name when up on this forum, and didn't come down...that wasn't playin fair. even if I did send an e-mail out...I have every right to do so. but my name up... not cool.

Hey! That is great. I had no idea. I thought he just took his game elsewhere, but I'm glad to know the real story.

Funny it is, imagining him lurking wishing he could foul-up another thread. I assume if we alert Tyler of any new names he arrives under, those can be dealt with as well?

In any case, thanks Tyler and THANK YOU Dancin, for putting forth the extra effort! Well done.

Hey Ghost

All of us have enough of a challenge getting along with each other when we are all working at getting along.

Now throw in someone who just breaks whatever very loose ground rules we have around here.

When confronted with using multiple handles. This guy goes and makes up even more handles to confuse and cause more chaos at the forum.

He was actually pushing most of his threads up to the top of the board because very few folks were responding to him. By editing an original thread he made it look like tons of folks were hitting on his posts when in fact he was just double or triple dipping. It's one thing to edit an original post it is quite another to have multiple handles and keep pushing the same four or five threads to the top of the board.

There are some people who are just bad news. Bottom line in my book is this is someone who thinks he is smarter than all of us and the even bare minimum rules do not apply to him.

It is sad that someone who claims to have spent that much time around the music never really got it.

Chris: I agree--totally. I'm just sorry that we gave him the attention he craved and allowed him to get so far under our skins. One single annoying smi2les post might set off a dozen or more reactions. I realize I said or implied that he was innocuous--he wasn't. But we created him as much as he did by responding and acknowledging him.

That's all--I'm no fan of smi2les or the testiness he engendered.

ghostofpig, Cliff hoped that you had figured that out after you followed up your attack on Cliffs post of a few weeks ago with your own pedantic rant less than 24 hours later!

Obviously its just fine with you when smi2les hijacks three consecutive serious posts about music by Chris Freedom?

Guess its cool with you if smi2les carries on discussions between himself and a number of his other handles?

Probably just as OK with you when he attacks /belittles other posters?

To borrow a phrase from another pedagogue who also followed up his lecture to Cliff a couple weeks ago with a similar tirade also less than 24 hrs later, "your head is up your ass!"

Sorry dude! You are truly capable of contributing great stuff here, just please, stop taking your self so seriously!

I agree--always have. I did not see the Borat movie, but imagine it was like smi2les--two jokes and it's all repetition. I thought his posts were lame and annoying, so I just stopped reading them. Sometimes I feel that by reading them, we egged him on--gave in to him as it were. Suppose no one read his posts? I feel that all the vitriolic response merely fed him, gave him the attention and notoriety he wants.

The real question is....JUST HOW MANY PEOPLE WAS HE? Take a look at the board, it's so Grateful!....we'll have to go back and figure out just how many names he invented...

damn - it had to be at least 3 solid posting names. none have been here today (as far as ive seen, though ive been at work, so i could have missed stuff)

some posts from the dude were ok, but in general...... just not a good forum poster (not that i am either at times, so i am one to talk according to many here)

I didn't do much, just passed it onto the other higher ups. IF you guys have problems, e-mail it to etree(AT)archive(DOT)org as well as qa(AT)archive(DOT)org and it will get taken care of.

hopefully your GD talk will go uninterrupted now. Thanks for helping make archive.org awesome.

Truly wish Cliff could say its great to be back here, although he misses the music discussion sooo much, and many of you all as well!

Not sure why you are all so giddy? A22hole gone? Try again!
Smi2les is like an incurable disease.

Sadly, because the community here is so very Kind, somewhat naive as well. Some seem to have trouble identifying the ongoing fraud being perpetrated against us all by a sick individual who continues create new han2dles, and even carries on discussions with himself.

Bellski2, I love you, Hawaii girl, etc, etc, etc...

None of you found any of the recent first time posters odd?

Valdez was great but alot of $ and too much down time...

hawaiigirl maaay be legit...and smi2les has been pretty good about adding 2's to his name so we still know its him.

He's also been slightly less annoying, which has been sorta nice.

But mostly he's still as annoying as that ant that crawls all the way up your pants legs into your underpants and then refuses to get out after much shaking and figiting, causing a somewhat embarassing scene and still leaving you with this pesky little thing crawling around in your underpants.
